Welcome to the Wisconsin State Society!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 7th, 2010 by On Wisconsin – Comments Off

The Wisconsin State Society (WSS) was formed in 1904 by and for people who live in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, but still call Wisconsin “home.”

The WSS is a non-profit organization that provides year-round opportunities for those with roots and pride in Wisconsin to get together, socialize and have a strong presence in our Nation’s Capitol.

The mission of the Wisconsin State Society is to bring people from Wisconsin together in the Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Northern Virginia region for social, civic and community service activities throughout the year.

The WSS is a member of the National Conference of State Societies.

October 10: Ride the “Packer Fan Bus” to the Packers vs. Redskins Game

Posted in Green Bay Packers on August 24th, 2010 by On Wisconsin – Be the first to comment

Attention, all Packer Backers!

We’ve had enough initial interest and have secured a coach bus (with restroom) for the Packers vs. Redskins game on Sunday, October 10th ! What better way to arrive and tailgate at FedEx than with 50+ other Packer Fans?

Cost:
$25 per person. Includes transportation ONLY.

Everyone is on their own to bring food and beer. CAN BEER only (no glass bottles!) is allowed on the bus and there will be a small propane grill for grilling. As it is a coach bus, there will be plenty of room down below to store your tailgating games (bags, etc).

Date:
Sunday, October 10th, 2010

Time:
11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Please make sure to arrive 30 min. before departure (10:30ish) so that we can leave promptly at 11:00 a.m. One of the main reasons for the bus is to tailgate at FedEx–so we don’t want to spend tailgating time waiting at the L’Enfant Metro.

Pick-Up:

L’Enfant Plaza metro. This stop was found to be the most central and easily accessible metro stop en route to Fed Ex. Once we get RSVPs there may be car pooling options available for those coming in from Arlington.

Payment: Please make checks payable to Wisconsin State Society mailed to Bill Wagner at 4122 N 17th St, Arlington, VA 22207 or for a $2 extra PER ticket fee, via PayPal. Please send to Bill Wagner  at e-mail address: psm36@georgetown.edu . Please send payment as soon as possible to secure your spot. The bus holds 55 and once we have reached that number we will no longer be able to accept additional reservations.

Tickets: NO tickets will be provided. Everyone must bring their own tickets, or purchase them at FedEx.

Contact info: If you have any questions, please e-mail Peggy Sue at peggysue.mcnulty@gmail.com or cell phone: 703.973.1643 or Bill Wagner at BIll.Wagner@dot.gov

We’d like to fill up the Coach Bus, so the more the merrier!

April 18: St. Baldrick’s Day – “Be Brave, Go Bald!”

Posted in Special Events on April 11th, 2010 by On Wisconsin – Be the first to comment

Join Wisconsin State Society member Jonathan B. on Sunday, April 18, as he is called to the stage to shave his head to raise money for research to end the #1 disease killer among children—cancer—and to “show” support for those children who don’t have a choice of whether or not they’ll lose their hair.

To make a donation, visit Jonathan’s web page

“The economy is not in the greatest shape right now and for that reason I would normally be hesitant to send out a message asking for donations,” says Jonathan. “However, there is such a great feeling knowing that we are helping
children have a shot at a full life. Who knows, maybe one of them will grow up to create and manage a stable economy!”

St. Baldrick’s Day
Sunday, April 18, 2010
Crystal City Sports Pub (529 23rd Street South, Arlington, VA)

Includes a raffle drawing, silent auction, and photo ops with an actual
leprechaun!

“I would like to thank all of those that have already donated, inquired about the event, or offered to volunteer – I can’t thank you enough!” adds Jonathan.
